"A weirdly ingratiating, strangely sophisticated, gross-out gangster flick involving an unemployed country bruiser named Rusty Showers (Richard Alan Johnston), a crazy Mafia hit man with a waste-disposal problem, and the propensity of pigs to
eat just about anything, Michael Lee Barlin's very talented, no budget first feature is smartly paced, and, for the most part, admirably underplayed.
--Amy Taubin, THE VILLAGE VOICE
"This one was an impressive debut by newcomer Michael Barlin... it tells the story of (as the poster puts it) a hick, a hitman, and the other, OTHER white meat... essentially the story of a Mafia hitman cooking up a deal with a backwoods pig farmer to dispose of some of their "garbage", should the need arise... pigs, as they say, will eat anything... ANYTHING... things quickly get out of hand, as both the hitman and the farmer are in waaay over their heads... while I'm not personally fond of the ending, the film is laced with snappy dialogue and some good characters... THE PIG FARM is really starting to hit the festival circuit, so catch it if you can..."
--Edison Carter, AINT IT COOL NEWS
"From the coolness of the film one is reminded of works by master Quentin Tarantino without, however, only being a copy of one… One of the best films of the year…"
--Haiko Herden, German Film Critic, HAIKOS FILMLEXICON
"Pig Farm... is a pretty good idea. The film's got blood and gore, comically macho mobsters, slightly dim rednecks and a gross-out premise that add up to a competent indie effort and a guilty good time."
